"Wool is scratchy." I used to think so too.
My three children taught me otherwise, the hard way.
They would rip off every piece of merino wool I put on them. Too scratchy, too clammy, too uncomfortable. So I searched for the softest wool imaginable. I couldn't find it in stores.
I wondered: Why isn't there a wool that is soft enough for a child to wear willingly and beautiful enough that I don't want to hide it?
So I had it made myself. Organic merino wool, GOTS-certified, mulesing-free. Fairly produced in Portugal, according to my specifications. So fine that it can be worn directly on the skin. Year-round, because merino is not just winter wool: the same fiber warms when it's cold and cools when it's warm. Your child won't sweat and won't freeze.
Today, my children wear nothing else. That's the only test that matters to me: If my three keep something on, I know it's good enough for yours.
Childhood is now. Quiet and loud, cautious and wild, delicate and boundless. Clothing should not shape it, but merely accompany it. Soft on the skin, calm in colors, clear in form.
I don't make pieces for a single season. I make favorite pieces that collect stories: From the first crawl to summer vacation, passed down to siblings and beloved children. Things that stay in the family and fill up with your memories.
Liebchen is my passion project - and I'm not entirely alone in it. My husband supports me in the background with technology, numbers, and everything else that would otherwise fall by the wayside. The rest I do with my hands and heart.
Glad you're here. 🤍
